Sonya Dreizler - Here's My Story
I frequently encourage my clients to "tell stories." Here are some of mine. If you're looking for my traditional professional bio, scroll down past the photos.
The Polluting Car: My Impact Story: When I was eight years old, I wrote a book about a woman who invented a car that cleaned the air by running on smog. Her company was a brilliant success, healed the planet, put the gas-fueled car makers out of business, and made the inventor lots of money. I was an impact investor since before the term existed. This shouldn't be a surprise since my dad was one of the first SRI advisors in the country. Today I’m just as passionate about impact investing as I was at eight years old, though slightly more pragmatic. I love to meet firms where they are at in regards to their ESG or Impact Investing experience, and help them take the next steps forward in creating or marketing impactful portfolio solutions for clients.
From Executive Assistant to the C-Suite: My Career Story: My first job in financial services was as an executive assistant to the CEO of a BD/ RIA. I didn't want to work in financial services, but made a one year commitment to the CEO who hired me. She had a lot of faith in my ability to learn; she threw me into the deep end with a standing invitation to ask her as many questions as I wanted. I did well and she gave me more responsibilities and encouraged me to restructure and create efficient processes and procedures in each department. I slowly moved up the ranks to VP, and eventually was named COO, reorganizing every department in the firm along my way. After 5 years as COO, when the CEO left, I applied for and got the CEO role, the same role that had hired me into the company 12 years prior. Now I enjoy taking that hard earned "hands-on" COO knowledge, combining it with my CEO perspective, and using those skills to help RIAs and financial services firms to optimize their businesses so they can spend more time with clients, doing work they enjoy.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me hanging out with my kids and husband, enjoying the Farmers Market, travelling to exciting places (most recently to Fiji!), chairing the board at CUESA, and always learning new things.
